Nothing of me is lost.
Why it is true. Nothing can leave. Not me, not her, not what I did, not what was done to me, not the dead. What has actually happened is never made unreal by anything that happens later. That I was kind on a Tuesday years ago is true now and will be true when the sun is gone. The ledger of what occurred is not in anyone’s memory, and it does not need to be.
Fence. Kept is not continued. Nothing here says I go on experiencing; it says what I did and was is the case, forever, and cannot be put anywhere else.
Carry. “It’s over” means I’ve stopped looking, not that it stopped being so.
— The Invariant §7; What CT Concludes, “You,” “Death”; Habits of Mind §2, habit 2.
Each of these is a sentence you can check, not one you are asked to believe. The longer papers hold the reasons; where a daily and a paper disagree, the paper is right.
